GANSEYBITCHES! Big Shot of the Week
March 27, 2008

Winner: Ty Rogers, Western Kentucky
Ty Rogers must have dreamed the shot a thousand times growing up. Ty caught a pass down by one in overtime with less than a second to play and 26 feet from the hoop. I have a feeling that when he dreamed of the shot as a kid in his backyard he was wearing the blue and white of the Kentucky Wildcats and not the red and white of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. Nonetheless, Ty shot over three defenders and caught nothing but net as time ran out. Rogers sprinted down the other end of the court trying to run away from his teammates with one finger up in the air.  In this video you can read Ty’s lips as he screams over and over again GANSEYBITCHES http://youtube.com/watch?v=U9AxODrlgXg
Touch ‘em all Ty, you’ll never hit a bigger one.

2nd Place: Gerald Henderson, Duke University
Henderson or as the ultra-hip Duke coach Mike Krysterwskolowskarumpalousky calls him “G” drove the ball coast to coast against Belmont. When Coach K talks to basketball players born in the 1980s they do not understand a word he says. It is like attempting to understand Tee’s Weekly Founder, Tee after he comes home from a year in Ireland—you know he’s speaking a language descended from Latin but the words just don’t seem to go together. Coach K not only lacks the ability to make any of the USA’s Olympic team players better, there is a good possibility he pi****off a few of our best causing the team to implode. Oh sorry where were we? G Henderson made the basket and enabled Duke to get embarrassed by the sixth best team in the Big East in the following game.

Loser: A.J. Price University of Connecticut
Mr. Price’s line: 9 minutes played 0-1 from the field 0-0 from the line 0 points 1 rebound 1 assist 1 torn knee ligament. He will have surgery tomorrow and will have to work hard to be ready for next season. This injury caused U Conn to lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament for the first time under Jim Calhoun. At the press conference when asked about this fact, Calhoun said “Bring me an effing drink.”

The Tee’s Weekly Michael F. Gansey Big Shot of the Week title is awarded each week to the biggest shot in college basketball. Michael F. Gansey is one of college basketball's all-time clutch shooters. A pure, lights-out shooter, he was recently selected as one of Tee's Weekly 50 greatest college basketball players of all time. He set the all-time record for three pointers in a game for West Virginia with eight trifectas against Marquette in 2006. He has more career three-pointers at West Virginia than even the great Jerry West. While at WVU Gansey made a habit of hitting three-pointers at critical spots in games and could often be heard taunting his opponents while the ball was in the air by screaming "GANSEYBITCHES!" So, next time you are on the playground and someone shoots a three in your face and yells "GANSEYBITCHES!" you'll know why.
